I need to share this beautiful story that my daughter Hannah wrote for John and I at our wedding! vintage bridesmaid dresses

Two Embers
By: Hannah Tulloch

When he first saw her,
she was dancing,
twirling around carelessly
in an old-fashioned restaurant,
wearing her mother's
vintage bridesmaid dress,
the only one dancing.
Many people passed her by
and never opened their mouths,
thinking to themselves
how silly she was
to be spinning
and whirling her way
to delight.
To him,
she
was an ember,
floating and flickering
like one,
unnoticeable
to everyone else,
but noticed
by him
and him alone.

The song came on
on his wedding day,
and she glanced at him
from across the room.
She had never looked
so beautiful,
and she was an angel
dressed in pure white.
He had never
noticed her more.
As they approached
each other,
he pictured her
dancing,
twirling around carelessly
in an old-fashioned restaurant,
wearing her mother's
vintage bridesmaid dress.
The two of them
we're the only ones dancing.
She
became an ember,
floating and flickering
like one,
and even though
everyone noticed her now,
he felt as if they
we're alone,
and that she
was completely noticeable
to him.

There she laid,
in a hospital bed
with her eyes shut tight.
He knew
she would never wake up
on Earth again.
But he knew
that she
was an ember
up in Heaven,
and that she
was waiting for the day
he would join her.
And as he slept that night,
he dreamt of her,
their song playing in his head
over
and over.
She
was his ember,
now dressed in pure white,
like on their wedding day,
and like the first time
he saw her,
dancing,
twirling around carelessly
in an old-fashioned restaurant,
wearing her mother's
vintage bridesmaid dress,
which was white as well.
Now,
she really was
an angel,
looking down on him,
waiting for the day
she would see him again.

As soon as he drew
his last breath,
his spirit rose up
and his body remained.
A faint figure
appeared in front of him.
A familiar figure.
She held his face
in her hands
and kissed his tears away.
Drowning in his own
drops of joy,
he had never been happier.
He had joined her,
he had joined his ember,
after what it felt like
a lifetime of waiting for,
and it was worth it.

She
was worth it.
